Being raised in Rio de Janeiro, a place that contrasts beauty with significant social issues, has helped shape my perspective of the city-life as a natural laboratory for research. After a master in traffic psychology at the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, I completed my doctoral studies in social psychology at the Universidade de Brasília, and conducted my postdoctoral studies in social/environmental psychology at the University of Victoria, Canada.

In my doctoral dissertation I investigated behavior in waiting lines (queues) using a multi-method approach. This has helped shape my current lines of investigation, revolving around social psychology, consumer behavior, and interpersonal relationships, with an emphasis on social norms, helping behavior, social dilemma, service encounters, fraud schemes, and persuasion.

I teach Social Psychology, Statistics, Psychometrics, and Consumer Behavior, both at undergraduate and graduate levels, and I am also an Associate Editor for Psicologia: Teoria e Pesquisa, a leading Brazilian journal: www.scielo.br/ptp
